Unpacking the Model Minority Myth is an interactive workshop designed to address and challenge the harmful Model Minority Stereotype—a tool of white supremacy that upholds anti-Asian and anti-Black power structures. Through participatory sessions, participants will explore how this stereotype shows up in their own lives, within broader culture, and within organizations. The workshop also provides practical opportunities to develop methods for disrupting these patterns. A goal of this workshop is to enhance racial competency; while fostering a more inclusive and supportive environment where people of color can fully express themselves and experience greater solidarity. This transformative work requires time, openness, and a commitment to meaningful change.
Building Bridges of Connection through Community Events & Programs is an interactive workshop is designed to empower participants with the skills and tools to create impactful events and programs that unite diverse communities. This hands-on session focuses on fostering collaboration and understanding, providing practical strategies to address complex social issues and promote healing. Participants will explore essential concepts such as group problem solving, healing-centered engagement, and challenging dominant culture. The workshop begins with an overview of foundational principles in community-building, emphasizing culturally sensitive approaches. Through storytelling and shared experiential learning, attendees will examine real-world examples of successful initiatives that have bridged divides and brought groups together. This workshop offers a valuable opportunity to develop practical skills for crafting inclusive, transformative experiences that strengthen community bonds.
